What’s your excuse for not quitting cigarettes?

Filed under: Quit Smoking — fappleyard @ 4:34 am

What’s your excuse? Procrastination? Peer pressure? Not yet convinced you should quit smoking? Not sincerely committed to quitting? Too much stress? You don’t believe you can overcome addiction?

Most women claim they smoke to relieve stress, while men mostly claim they smoke because they like it.

Maybe you have no desire to quit, despite knowing how bad smoking is for your health. 4 of 5 addicted smokers would love to quit but have either given up or just keep putting it off, until it’s too late. Perhaps it took the doctor who diagnosed you with heart disease or lung disease to finally convince you to kick the habit.

  1. I understand smoking is the most difficult addiction to quit but doing so could save your life. You will definately be healthier. Plus, it is a costly habit and you always smell of cigarette smoke. Smoking is no longer in vogue no matter your occupation. To be fashionable now smoking is a no go!

  2. Gail,
You got that right! Smoking these days is frowned upon as a dirty lowlife habit by many. Even many smokers will openly admit it’s a filthy habit. Smokers don’t release how much their habit is costing them. The Dollars and Cents really ads up. Some smokers may be spending US$4000/year or more on cigarettes! This doesn’t take into account the even bigger cost to their health and medical care.

  3. The cost to health and medical care is phenomenal. Smoking related disease has been killing people for decades. There is no magic cure for lung cancer.

  4. You should see the prices in the UK. £6.00/$12.00 a pack of 20…eeww.
I’ve given up now and didn’t have an excuse for not giving up. Just gave an honest answer…'’I am well and truly addicted to nicotine'’.
